Soft Reset is when you format an android phone by going through Menu>>Settings>>Backup & Restore>>Format phone.

We have two types of Reset Soft Reset and Hard Reset

This type of reset only returns screen to the default user settings. There may be no lost of applications.

Hard Reset is just like soft reset but the difference is that it is being performed with combination buttons. The use of combination buttons to format phone started with Nokia Symbian phones.

Here, when you perform Hard Reset you are not only going to loose all the applications but the phone internal memory will be wiped out. In some cases the phone can brick os if there some virus or bug.

There are two ways you can perform hard rest apart from phones that erase directly.
a) Wipe User Data
b) Wipe Cache

When you select wipe user data, chances is there that you can recover some things inside the phone after format.

If you choose wipe cache the phone will not npt only wipe but nuked to default. in most cases, if is android 5.1 version or below hard reset will remove everything including the FRP.

Why do we perform Hard Reset?

Android Smart phones are unpredictable. It can develop any problem anytime any day. Android phones and tablets can hang, not responding, keeps restarting. The first method you should use before flashing any android phone unless total dead is hard reset. We perform hard reset if an android phone is hanging, boots to logo only, display memory full or not responding. If you forget your android password then hard reset can fix it.
